Kyle Deckelbaum joins Destination DC as domestic media relations manager

Emmy award-winning journalist and DC native adds to DDC’s robust communications team

Washington, DC – Destination DC (DDC), the official destination marketing organization for Washington, DC, today announced that Kyle Deckelbaum has joined the organization as its new domestic media relations manager. In his role, Deckelbaum will oversee DDC’s domestic public relations strategy, targeting leisure outlets and potential travelers nationwide.

 

Deckelbaum, a sixth generation Washingtonian, will provide market-driven leadership to DDC’s robust and expanding communications team. He will oversee DDC’s consistent, proactive press outreach to support its domestic marketing campaigns and help position Washington, DC as a premier destination for leisure travel.

 

“We are thrilled to welcome Kyle to the team as we continue to promote the myriad ways to experience DC,” said Robin A. McClain, Destination DC’s chief marketing officer. “As we focus on expanding our marketing efforts to compete for our share of visitors, his experience will benefit our efforts to both reach and host media. Kyle’s work is an important component to complement our marketing and generate buzz about Washington, DC.”

 

Deckelbaum was an accomplished reporter and anchor at legacy television affiliates across the country. He received national industry recognition for his work, winning an Emmy award and four Edward R. Murrow awards for excellence in writing and feature storytelling.

His award-winning journalism, insight into the evolving media landscape, personal relationships and passion for his hometown will help us tell the story of Washington, DC in new ways,” said Danielle Davis, Destination DC’s vice president of communications. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to an exceptional communications department at DDC that targets domestic, international, trade, local and niche media daily. We’re ecstatic to add his skillset to our team.”

 

Deckelbaum, who grew up in Northwest DC, graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a dual concentration in reporting and strategic communication. He began his television career at WKBT in La Crosse, Wisconsin, then spent nine years at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was named the state’s sportscaster of the year by the National Sports Media Association. Over the years, he has served as a play-by-play broadcaster for various television and radio networks, including Big Ten Network and ESPN+. He has also spent time with two local networks in the Washington market and the Washington Nationals.
